what will it cost
YOUR FIRST LESSON IS FREE OF ALL CHARGES
Kokoronokai centre has a membership fee to cover facilities and public liability insurance. This is either £42 per year or £2.00 per visit. Speak to Lyn Cashley at the centre about this.
£40 per month by standing order. This is our preferred option and allows you to attend all training sessions in a calendar month so it also works out as the cheapest option on a per hour basis. Learning aikido demands time and commitment and so we strongly recommend this option.
OR £8 per session. If you are unlikely to get to more than 5 sessions per month, this will be the best option for you. However, please remember that your rate of progress depends on your time on the mat.
After three sessions you will be required to apply for martial arts insurance cover. This is provided by the British Aikido Board through the Aikido Research Federation and costs £20 per year. Note that this insurance provides legal cover in the event that you injure someone. It does not cover you for personal injury.
Training uniform. Eventually you may want to purchase an aikido training suit ("gi"). These cost around £40- £50 new.
Weapons: we train occasionally with weapons - primarily wooden sword and staff - as a means of developing greater understanding of aikido principles. The club has a number of weapons but you may want to buy your own . Cost depends on quality and ranges upward from about £15 each.
