OUR TEACHERS
All our teachers have coaching accreditation from the British Aikido Board and a long history of studying and teaching aikido.

Shihan Peter Downs 7th DAN
Peter is head of the Norfolk branch of takemusu aikido kai in the UK.
His aikido career spans over 45 years. He started studying aikido in the early 1980s and was awarded his 7th Dan by the Japanese headquarters in 2017. He has made a number of contributions to the British Aikido Board's publication "Aikido Times".

Sensei Andy Jenkins 3rd DAN
Andy joined Takemusu Aikido Kai Norwich in 2012 having achieved 1st Dan level while training in Preston. He received an accelerated grading schedule in recognition of his prior training and his consistent and respectful attitude to our style. He was awarded 1st Dan in January 2015, 2nd Dan in 2017 and 3rd Dan in 2024. Andy is currently taking a parenting break from aikido for his three young children.

Vladimir Pristoupa 2nd DAN
Vlad has trained in aikido intermittently for over twenty years. He is now committed to very regular training and has taken on teaching activities to widen his experience and knowledge base. Vlad lives in London but such is his level of commitment to aikido that he travels to Norwich on a very regular basis to teach and train (together with a couple of other London members).

Dylan Hyatt 1st DAN
Dylan has a very long career in aikido originally starting over 30 years ago under an aikikai instructor. There was a gap in his training after his original instructor moved on. He has been a very regular club member of takemusu aikido kai under Peter Downs for 12 years and achieved his 1st Dan in 2024. Dylan has recently undertaken his Coach Level 1 qualification.
